The Moderator will be Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ, and the Mentor on site is Steve McFarlane, VE3TBD. The Amateur Radio volunteer team at the ground station will use the call sign VK4ISS to establish and maintain the ISS connection. The ARISS Amateur Radio ground station (telebridge station) for this contact is in Andergrove, Mackay, Queensland, Australia. The downlink frequency for this contact is 145.800 MHz and may be heard by listeners that are within the ISS-footprint that also encompasses the telebridge station. ![]() This will be a telebridge Contact via Amateur Radio allowing students to ask their questions of Astronaut Warren “Woody” Hoburg, KB3HTZ. This contact will form a key part of the “Study of the Universe and Space Exploration” science curriculum for the 9th grade class. In anticipation of this ARISS contact, Grade 9 students will participate in specially designed lessons about the ISS, the astronauts and radio communication. St Francis Xavier High School is a school of 2,150 students in grades 7 through 12. Francis Xavier High School located in Gloucester, Ontario.ĪRISS conducts 60-80 of these special Amateur Radio contacts each year between students around the globe and crew members with Amateur Radio licences aboard the ISS.
